Before you begin looking at what we do, take a moment to watch a video put together by our own International Thespian Actor, Mickey Estrella on what ATC has to offer!
The 2020-2021 Theatre Season will bring new challenges and will stir the creative & inventive talents of our Theatre Program students.
The Ayala Theatre Company will continue our mission to be an inclusive and creative outlet for the students while providing quality entertainment and expressive performances to the community. Our students will be challenged to question, express, and be uplifted by the power of performance.
We are well-established and positioned to maintain our previous production schedule, and we are striving to push the expectations of what can be done virtually! We realize that our responsibility to the community is to provide the much-needed escape and opportunity to deepen our community roots. Please check in with the Calendar section for a listing of the premiere dates for the three scheduled Main Stage Plays:
PROMETHEUS BOUND: 2020, (currently streaming on our FaceBook page)
LE PETIT PRINCE (currently streaming on our FaceBook page), and
THE TEMPEST
and our Production and Performance Course Episodic Narratives and Showcases (LINK above).
This time in history has instilled one reassuring certainty: We need art. We need expression. We need a safe place to create both. That's what we are in every moment. We are striving to continue the tradition of creating only the top tier of thought-provoking expression and performance. We are a non-profit, operating SOLELY on our own fundraising and refusing to charge admittance to any of our productions. We are striving to build strong ties within our community during these times. and are working to consistently bring you the stories that need to be told.
Each year, we offer auditions to bring students into the ADVANCED THEATRE and PRODUCTION & PERFORMANCE courses. This year, these auditions are being submitted through email by the student applicant. Each prospective candidate will email their Performance Resume along with TWO (2) Monologues (One Comedic, One Dramatic--these can be non-original, meaning from a film, a show, or a play) to michael_nieblas@chino.k12.ca.us. For the official process, please see the form below. Please do not hesitate to email any questions as well.
As stated above, we are 100% self-reliant but that includes having to find ways to cover the costs of make-up, costumes, royalties, scripts, and props. We have made a commitment that we will NOT charge for tickets to view any of our shows. If, however, you are able to help, anything will be greatly appreciated!
M. Nieblas has spent the majority of the past 25 years working on interpreting, writing, performing, and analyzing many forms of literature and drama. He has been a founding member of a raw theatre and a performance troupe from the ground up, while living in Alaska and later Boulder. He was the recipient of two separate research grants for college textbooks, one examining the role of the immigrant in New York Theatre and the other in examining the role of masculinity and the gaze in African Diaspora literature. While in undergrad and grad school, he organized Shakespeare and Modernist symposiums and has had the pleasure of presenting academic papers on subjects ranging from Mercutio’s Queen Mab of Romeo and Juliet to the haunted Tyrones of Long Day’s Journey into Night. He is a published poet and playwright. He collects Criterions and loves reality television.
